Each SSK Hadosoru wood bat is unique, handmade for you by our bat shokunin (craftsman) in Japan.
There is an art to making wood bats: picking out the right wood billet, shaping the bat to have the most balanced feel and crafting the bat to withstand and excel against high speed pitching. These are all elements that go into creating a wood bat. Although there are hundreds of wood bat manufacturers, what makes the SSK Hadosoru handmade in Japan wood bats different?
Our Factor 6 Process and our bat Shokunin Japanese Craftsman is what makes each one of our new SSK Hadosoru wood bats unique.
Let’s start off by explaining the SSK Factor 6 Process.
While typical wood bat billets are dried for 1 week before manufacturing, the SSK Hadosoru hand split billets are dried for 6 months. Sounds excessive? Think again! By drying the bat billets for 6 months, all moisture is able to leave the wood to ensure ultimate hardness and flexibility in the bat. This is the reason why we named them “Hadosoru,” combining Hādo (“hard”) + Sōru (“soul”).
All SSK Hadosoru wood bats are handcrafted by our expert bat Shokunin.
Our SSK expert bat Shokunin is hand selecting each billet to determine which billet is best suited for which bat model. By listening to the sound of the wood, and examining the grains of the wood, he is then able to sort the billets and only use the best choices to craft each bat by hand. The attention to detail on each bat is clear- from the finish of the bat to the weight and feel of the bat, providing every hitter with the ideal tool for their game.
